Current Flight Projects and Test Activities

Prospector 10 (P-10)
The P-10 is a medium-sized vehicle that has been developed for flight testing a next-generation, multi-chamber aerospike engine that builds upon the experiences achieved with the original single-chamber aerospike engine flown on the P-2 and P-4 in late 2003.  CSULB is the P-10 project lead for both the vehicle and engine, with GSC supporting vehicle assembly and integration and managing the field test activities.  The initial P-10 vehicle static fire test took place on 17 May 2008 on the FAR Large Vertical Test Stand and represented the culmination of work sponsored through a Missile Defense Agency university grant to CSULB.

Refurbishment is now underway in preparation for a flight test in mid-Spring 2009.  Installation of replacement avionics and the re-built engine assembly are currently the critical path actions.
