Static Fire Tests
The team successfully static fired the Kimbo-VI vehicle with two separate engines on Sunday, 20 May 2001.  The first was an evolutionary version of the 500 lbf engine that has powered previous Kimbo vehicles.  Its distinctive feature was a graphite-epoxy overwrapped thrust chamber, provided by ACPT of Huntington Beach, CA.  The burn was entirely nominal, with a peak measured thrust of 600 lbf.  Subsequently, the team integrated the 1000 lbf-thrust engine developed by CSULB students.  It achieved a peak measured thrust of 917 lbf during a several second burn.  Additional details can be found at: Students Conduct Successful Static Fire Tests of Two Rocket Engines .
